Glucose Inhibition as an Innovative Cancer Therapy

JUNE 11, 2008 – I just completed my fourth module in the Anti-Aging Fellowship through American Academy of Anti Aging Medicine (A4M) and am eager to tell you about a new immune modulator that results in dramatic improvements in cancer patients. As you may be aware, we are losing the battle against cancer with sole conventional chemotherapy & radiation treatments. I lost my Mother to Ovarian Cancer 12 years ago, and have been searching for alternatives to conventional therapies. Clearly something else is needed to boost the immune system and counteract the negative effects of these toxic treatments.

This well researched, fermented wheat germ extract (FWGE), is now available in the United States and has been found to be safe when used with or without chemotherapy and radiation.

This ingredient supports the foundations of good health by enhancing the body’s ability to modulate immune response and to regulate cell metabolism disrupted by environmental toxins, physical injury and emotional stress. It has been the subject of more than 20 peer-reviewed publications describing in vitro, in vivo and human clinical trials with dramatic results.

Nobel Prize winning scientist, Dr. Szent-Gyorgyi initiated the development of this wheat germ extract. He noted that internal and external stress can transform cells by altering their normal rate of metabolism. This transformation affects cell-to-cell communication and eventually disturbs the regulation of overall immune response. His research found that naturally occurring compounds called methoxy-substituted benzoquinones play an essential role in regulating and fine-tuning metabolism at the cellular level. He also discovered that supplemental quantities of these compounds help the body respond to internal and external stresses.

A new generation of Hungarian scientists continued the work by developing and patenting a method of manufacturing an all-natural, standardized source of methoxy-substituted benzoquinones by fermenting wheat germ with baker’s yeast (US patent). Available in Europe under the trade name Avemar, it has been the subject of more than 100 studies in cell lines, animals and humans since 1998.

Research has been conducted in Hungary, Austria, Russia, Italy, Israel, South Korea and the United States which has resulted in peer-reviewed scientific publications in over 28 medical journals.

This Fermented Wheat Germ Extract supports cell metabolic regulation, promotes immune system modulation, maintains healthy cellular and humoral (Th1/Th2) immune balance, and promotes optimal NK cell targeting ability and the coordinated response of macrophages, B-cells & T-cells.

It is important to know that glucose & sugar feed cancer cells. Studies show that this once a day supplement helps to maintain cell metabolic regulation so that cells use glucose at their normal rate through healthy oxidative pathways. In other words, it blocks glucose uptake by the cancer cells. It promotes immune regulation and maintains healthy cellular and humoral (Th1/Th2) immune balance. It supports healthy presentation of a cell membrane feature called MHC-1 (Major Histo-compatibility Complex Class One) that enables Natural Killer (NK) cells to distinguish between cell types. Many cancer cells have a shield that protects it from damage; this supplement rips this protective shield up. Finally, it improves the coordinated function of white blood cells, (macrophages, T-cells and B-cells) required for appropriate antibody production and other immune system activity.

Avemar is an instant drink mix that can be mixed with water or other beverages. Once-a-day use delivers 8.5 grams of Avemar, the same level used in clinical trials. This usage results in dramatic improvement in energy and quality of life.

In a way isn’t it sad that it’s been 10 years and we are just finding out about this health breakthrough. American spends more money on healthcare than any other nation, yet we are at the bottom when it comes to health. What are we waiting for?
