Primary Care of Women and Adolescents

Pamela Egan Primary Care of Women and Adolescents

Primary Care is loosely defined as “Providing the ideal continuity and integration of health care services.”

All family physicians, family and adult nurse practitioners, and most pediatricians and internists (Internal Medicine) provide Primary Care services. The goals of Primary Care are: 1) To provide the patient with a broad spectrum of care, both preventive and curative, over a period of time; and 2) to coordinate all of the various specialty care the patient may receive.

Pamela Egan, FNP-C CDE has been in practice for 28 years. A Board-Certified Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Diabetes Educator, she has dedicated her her career to Primary Care and Preventive Medicine.

While somewhat uncommon for primary care services, a surprising number of Mrs. Egan’s patients travel from neighboring towns and even parishes to see her. While this is not a common practive industry-wide, Pam’s dedicated focus on overall wellness and prevention of illness make the trip worthwhile for all who make the drive. An alarming number of primary care physicians practice purely reactive medicine, which is the assessment of diagnostic criteria, the issuing of a formal diagnosis and the treatment of the disease, illness or symptoms post-diagnosis. This differs from Nurse Practitioner Egan’s approach in that Pam’s goal is to conduct a thorough assessment of overall health, identify potential problems and address them in hopes of preventing the onset of disease, illness or other minor symptoms.

That said, she is every bit as qualified as any other primary care doctor out there to identify and treat symptoms in those instances in which it is too late to prevent the adverse medical condition. So whether you’re already sick and need to get better, or if you simply desire to start correcting the problems now that will lead to illness later in hopes of preventing the onset of illness, Pamela Egan is there to help.

Nurse Practitioner Egan’s clinic location is in Covington, LA (address below). However, she services patients from all of St. Tammany Parish and even parts of Washington Parish including but not limited to the cities/towns of Mandeville, Abita Springs, Folsom, Madisonville, Goodbee, Slidell, Franklinton and Lacombe.
